So, what does E Rider do?
E Rider sells electric bikes and scooters direct to the consumer via an online platform.
What’s behind the business idea?
We believe there is going to be a huge increase in use of electric vehicles in the next few years and we wanted to ride that wave.
Was there a breakthrough moment?
Yes, we decided to dabble in the market and ordered 30 bikes from our Chinese manufacturer. We put up a simple website and were astonished to sell all the bikes before they arrive in the UK!
How is the company doing?
Fantastically well, growth has been consistent and in the last few months has been exponential. We are way ahead of the projections in our business plan.
Do you have any regrets?
I don’t think we have always spent our marketing budget to best effect but, in a new business, this can be tricky to judge.
What makes you stand out from your competitors?
A unique product range, and the attention to customer service.
What is your definition of a positive customer experience?
Where our products help people to change their lives by making their travel cheaper, quicker and more fun. Changing lives sounds a bit dramatic but we have countless examples which prove that our bikes do improve real people’s lives.
You’re currently reaching out for investors, what do you plan to do when you have raised this funding?
If successful, the funding will be used to improve our marketing and to help develop exciting new products.
What advice would you give yourself now if you were starting a business?
You need to believe in what you are doing. Don’t start a business unless you are committed 100% to the business rationale.
Finally, Ken what is your favourite biscuit?
I’d love to say hobnobs but in truth, I prefer a chocolate digestive… or usually about five of them!
