How did the idea for the business come about?
I was fed up with talking to agencies that didn’t appear to care about their clients or fully understand their objectives, coupled with feeling that tricks were being missed on today’s customer journey I felt sure that it could be done better. As a result, I decided to launch Nutcracker Agency.
When was the company first established?
How is the business doing?
The business has grown at a phenomenal rate since launch, growing by 76 per cent year on year and continuing to go from strength to strength. We have a diverse client base ranging from innovative manufacturers to electrical wholesale to a FTSE 100 accountancy firm – we focus our energies on ensuring we provide them with a tailored service.
Since the company began, what has been the biggest challenge?
Finding time to pro-actively market Nutcracker and also finding the right talent that fits with the business and Nutcracker culture. We have had unbelievable feedback from our clients who find our enthusiasm, dedication and knowledge invaluable – so it is imperative that as the team expands we find the right people who can continue to deliver.
What makes you stand out from your competitors?
At Nutcracker we genuinely go the extra mile and work for our clients as if their business were ours. Our clients see us as part of their team, couple this team ethos with our creative thinking delivers exceptional results. Nutcracker were recently announced as Finalists at The National Business Awards. As part of the NBA judging process we put together a short film to outline why Nutcracker is unique, part of this exercise involved asking a few of our clients to contribute – I asked them to use their own words and outline why they love Nutcracker and I was blown away by the feedback.
What’s been your best business decision?
My best business decision was to go to a lunch the week before the launch of Nutcracker where I was introduced to our biggest client, who appointed Nutcracker in June 2014 and are still our largest client today – we are their outsourced sales & marketing department and are involved in everything from packaging, catalogues, articles, films, key account meetings, new business drives, lead generation, events. As a Nutcracker team we are all passionate about not only the activity working (and being excellent) but in delivering exceptional results to them – the result, since Nutcracker has been involved -their business has grown by 40%.
What is next for Nutcracker Agency?
Expansion, my focus is to keep doing what we are doing and to maintain the level of Nutcracker service and results as we grow.
If you could help one business now with a single piece of advice, what would it be?
Outsource what you are bad at, free up your time to do what you are excellent at and the results will follow. If I could sneak another one in, it would be to have a tangible plan, not a blind vision but a real plan of how you are planning to get from A to B and then stick to it (allowing for innovation along the way).
Finally, what is your favourite biscuit?
Hmmmm tricky question, if pushed I would have to say Shortbread.
