So, what does Banana Moon do?
Banana Moon is a personalised clothing company. We print and embroider onto a wide range of clothing items for colleges, universities, large businesses, small business and many more different markets.
We do everything in-house and take the client’s specification and decorate the clothing accordingly. Technically we are classed as part of a rare breed of UK manufacturing companies.
What’s behind the business idea?
The concept behind personalised clothing is everywhere, most people will probably wear a brand’s embroidered or printed item of clothing every single day.
However, the premise of Banana Moon, is a fun, quirky family business which puts service first. We believe in using e-commerce to enhance the buying process. Ordering personalised clothing is a sometimes daunting purchase to make, so ease of ordering and overall ordering experience are a key focus throughout the process.
Has there been a breakthrough moment?
Without doubt our first E-commerce website in 2005. In the early days of e-commerce, this was a sterling effort and helped to put us on the personalised clothing map.
Do you have any regrets?
Never any regrets.
What makes Banana Moon stand out from its competitors?
The fun brand, strong website, our absolute knowledge and skill in what we do and the quality that we can provide. Whether it’s design, embroidery or printing we have invested in people who can master almost anything for our clients.
We also really care about our online presence and are keen to take up any new features that come to market. We want shopping with us to feel like any really top-end retail shopping experience.
If you were to give SMEs one piece of advice what would it be?
Is it a surprise when big brands use your services?
Over the years, we have supplied many of the biggest brands in the world with personalised clothing, so it’s also great kudos to us, that these companies liked our offering enough to trust us with their branding.
What is your definition of a positive customer experience?
For me, it is to receive your purchase without ever feeling the need to doubt the service or the company providing the service.
This is through a positive first contact, slick service throughout and ultimately a quality product which represents value for money. If there are issues, be visible, honest and try to resolve as quickly as possible.
Finally, Alex what is your favourite biscuit?
I’d say Oreos. Add those into a milkshake and you’ve always got a winner!
