So, what does Fruity Beauties do?
Fruity Beauties are a juicy start-up venture, striving to bring refreshment, revitalisation, and rejuvenation to the nation!
Our take home to freeze, Vitamin C fuelled ice pops are a cooling taste sensation and a delightful, permissible treat with a mere 53 calories per pop! Fruity Beauties will be sold to retailers from the indies to the multiples. This will begin in the UK with a view to expanding globally. Made right here on Great British turf, these yummy little fruities are packed full of goodness, containing only natural colours and flavours!
They don’t only taste great but our ethos is one of solidarity with our partners. Fruity Beauties have teamed up with the incredible and formidable ‘Love, Support, Unite’ who are changing lives every single day with their beautiful, nurturing and constructive work out in Africa. 5p from every box sold will go directly to support schools, hospitals, and sustainable farming. We are beyond thrilled to be able to play a part in such a special endeavour from the outset.
What’s behind the business idea?
Fruity Beauties have big goals, big dreams, and big plans to support their cause. We see our amazing product as a vehicle for change and a facilitator for good.
Far too often blind consumption leads to great wastage and disconnection from wider social responsibilities. We want to be a big part of helping to communicate a message that runs deeper and rather than encouraging passive purchasing, to inspire our lovely customers to be proactive, conscious consumers. We don’t just want to offer something that looks and tastes great but also something that makes you feel great too, allowing this contribution from the very beginning means we have started as we mean to go on!
Was there a breakthrough moment?
Lucy and I are both avid festival goers and love not only all the fun of the fair but also appreciate the diversity and creativity that not only stimulates your senses but also fosters a mindfulness and appreciation of the rich and varied nature of identity.
We both knew that we could use this inherent awareness to build a brand that conveys these qualities and wanted to create a product that would refresh and revitalise festival goers with added nutrients to keep them going.
The ice pops fitted the bill nicely so we set about putting the wheels in motion!
How is the company doing?
After 18 months of research and recipe development, and our fair share of bumps in the road, the product is now market ready. We sold the pops at festivals and events across the UK over the summer to fantastic feedback and now we are ready to hit the shops and really get it out there!
Do you have any regrets?
No real regrets, we’ve certainly made mistakes along the way but these ‘mistakes’ have taught us a great deal and have definitely guided the direction of the business, made us more savvy in the process and helped us to grow organically.
What makes you stand out from your competitors?
In terms of the product, there is no other ice pop out there that offers 100% of your daily vitamin C which renders it a delightful, permissible treat at a mere 53 calories per pop!
Out little fruity characters have a lot about them in their own right and will be a prominent feature in the journey. Kids can create their own little fruities via the website and this is a really fun way to engage the younger audience.
What is your definition of a positive customer experience?
Customers should feel valued and appreciated and we believe the key to achieving satisfaction is to keep to our word and communicate.
Our customers are the lifeblood of Fruity Beauties and we will continually improve processes and develop our product range and brand to keep moving forward positively.
We are always brimming with new ideas and exciting developments are always in the pipeline so watch this space.
You’re currently reaching out to investors, what do you plan to do when you have raised this funding?
The funding is primarily for cash flow purposes. It will allow us to create a large stock-holding so we can fulfill orders quickly and effectively. It will also help with our marketing efforts and raise brand awareness.
What advice would you give yourself now if you were starting a business?
Take advice from credible and relevant sources on board and apply it accordingly and also don’t listen to those who resonate a ‘can’t do that’ attitude because you absolutely will come across this. Above all, have confidence, stay open minded and don’t be afraid to change the plan if it’s not working, there’s no shame in that, in fact, it’s the smart thing to do!
Finally, Alicia what is your favourite biscuit?!
Oooooo down to crunch time! Couldn’t resist! I’m a big cookie fan!
